Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Program
The Bloodless* Medicine & Surgery Program at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center may be available for patients who wish to avoid using donated blood because of religious beliefs or medical concerns.
Many elective and emergency surgeries may be performed without using blood transfusions. Substitutes are available that could be used in place of blood products for medical treatment.
In fact, many of the specialized techniques originally developed for bloodless medicine and surgery have been incorporated into standard hospital procedures for the benefit of all patients.
