If you are a 100 pounds or more overweight, or have a BMI equal to or greater than 40, or a BMI equal to or greater than 35 with co-morbidities,  we encourage you to contact one of our Bariatric Program Assistants to sign up for our New Patient Class.

PRE-OP NUTRITION PROGRAM
Surgical Weight Loss at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital is pleased to offer this new program to help patients qualify for a bariatric procedure.  Many insurances require bariatric patients to have 6 months of education prior to surgical approval.  If they reduce weight in the process, and the patient is satisfied, then surgical intervention may not be needed.

Program                                                            

• Meets 6-month pre-op  nutrition education program requirements for several insurance plans
• Requires an MD referral
• Patients must have a BMI of 35 w/ complications or 40+ BMI
• All classes are provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD)
• Participant blood pressures and weights are monitored
• A certificate of completion is presented once 100% attendance is verified

• Nutrients for Health – 6 essentials
• Habits Not Diets – behavior modification techniques
• What’s In a Label? – food label contents
• Sabotage: Intentional or Unintentional – understanding environmental cues and personal fears
• Shopping and Dining Strategies – planning ahead for success
• Feedback Systems – measuring your success!

Cost:         $300 ($50/session x6 sessions)*

SUPPORT GROUPS

Our support group meetings are open both to those considering surgery and to those who have had the surgery, and are led by our program clinical psychologist, Diane LeMont, Ph.D.

At support group meetings, we encourage discussion of any topic of interest for our patients. After any bariatric surgical procedure, including gastric bypass, there is a greater probability of long-term success if physical, psychological and relationship issues are acknowledged and discussed.

Every Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
