Sometimes the most painful part of going to the emergency room (ER) is the wait time. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average hospital ER wait time to see a physician is nearly 56 minutes.
Now at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, knowing where to go, how long the wait time in the ER is and reserving a spot ahead of time is as simple as point and click. We recently introduced two new ways for you to find out ER wait times, before you ever leave the house and even schedule your appointment online and wait at home.

If you have an immediate, life-threatening medical emergency,
For your convenience and safety, the Emergency Department at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our Emergency Department is both a cardiac receiving center and a stroke-neurology receiving center, as designated by Orange County Emergency Medical Services.
We have also earned higher level accreditations such as:
Primary Stroke Center, accredited by The Joint Commission, with special expertise to diagnose and treat strokes more quickly.
Chest Pain Center, accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, equipped to diagnose and treat heart attacks more quickly.
At our ED, you are seen by a triage nurse and a Board Certified Emergency Medicine physician who determines which services you need. And because our hospital houses a Level III NICU and one of the few Pediatric ICUs in Orange County, your sick child has immediate access to specialized treatment and care through our ED.
Our Emergency Room is available for any potentially life threatening condition such as:
