The Pediatric "Hospitalist" Program at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center (FVRH) offers a comprehensive continuum of care for critically ill children.

Each "Hospitalist" is a highly qualified Board-certified pediatric specialist who is hospital-based. Our hospital provides integrated care within a cost-effective system. They evaluate, treat, discharge and refer each patient back to the primary care physician. This program offers numerous advantages to patients, physicians and medical groups. The diversity of our subspecialists may contribute to shorter hospital stays and better outcomes.

Our Program Offers

• Daily rounds and management of pediatric hospitalized patients (0-21 years of age)
• Case management and consultations
• Evidence-based medicine approach
• 24 hours per day, 7 days a week coverage for hospital calls and admissions
• Continuous communication with the primary care physician as needed to promote continuity and follow-up

For more than 25 years, FVRH has offered advanced pediatric care to the community. Since its establishment in 1986, our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) has provided advanced subspecialty medical treatment for thousands of critically ill infants or children.

This year, FVRH welcomed the addition of a newly expanded PICU. The facility offers a total of 11 beds, eight that are enclosed in private rooms. This allows parents to stay with their children on a continuing basis, providing them with the comfort they need. The new PICU, which is the second largest unit in Orange County, offers a 24-hour transport team that provides service to more than 30 area hospitals.
