Volunteer Program

Our Volunteer Program at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center has provided ongoing assistance and support to our patients, medical staff, and community for over 40 years. Our volunteers are a dynamic group of driven individuals who bring us their dedication, time, and heart. We focus on helping these volunteers understand the hospital environment and hope that our program will help those interested in the healthcare field find which path best suits their future career goals.

Volunteer Opportunities:

The success of our volunteer program is dependent upon teamwork, which is developed through the positive relationships established within the program. Together we will continue to build an outreach for the patients, staff, and community. Volunteer assignments are determined by the Hospital Volunteer Program, individual interest, availability, and department needs.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (see below for the Junior Volunteer Program if you are still in high school)
  • Choose the appropriate application (College, Junior, or Adult) and submit a completed online application (see below instructions)
  • Complete a personal interview
  • Undergo background screening clearance*
  • Pass a medical health screening*
  • Attend a hospital volunteer program orientation*

*These steps are completed if you pass the interview and have been accepted into the program.

How to Apply:

If you would like to join our team of volunteers, please complete an online application that can be found in the “Careers” section under the “About Us” tab above. Follow the “Job Board” link and it will take you to another Tenet Health website. To find the position more easily, type in “volunteer” in the Keywords search area.

Junior Volunteer Program:

Our Junior Volunteers are an elite group of high school students who are selected to represent the youth of our community through their values, enthusiasm, and genuine interest to help others. This opportunity is open to all students ages 16-18 years of age that are currently still in high school.

Applications are available online. Our Juniors are obligated to volunteer at least one quarter from their start date. The program offers 4-hour shifts every weekend (Saturday or Sunday) with a total of ~16 hours per month.

If you have any questions regarding the Junior Volunteer Program please call (714) 966-8083 or email Wilson Lam, the Junior Volunteer Coordinator at Wilson.Lam@tenethealth.com.
