Fountain Valley Regional Hospital Names Clay Farell Chief Executive OfficerSep 16, 2021
Fountain Valley, Calif. – Tenet Health Pacific Coast has appointed Clay Farell as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately.
Clay is a values-driven leader focused on improving the experience and engagement of healthcare teams and patients. He currently serves as Interim Chief Executive Officer for Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and has been with Tenet Health since 2008.
“Clay continues to demonstrate excellence in decision making and critical thinking,” said Bryan Rogers, Group Chief Executive Officer for Tenet Health Pacific Coast. “He successfully directed much of our COVID-19 pandemic response across the region and continues to be a dedicated patient advocate, furthering our goal of delivering on our vision of being a community built on care.”
Clay relocated to California in 2015, joining Tenet Health’s Pacific Coast Market as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Los Alamitos Medical Center where he developed and implemented strategic capacity growth plans, directed major facility renovations, and helped the hospital achieve a Comprehensive Stroke Certification.
In 2018, Clay joined Fountain Valley Regional Hospital as COO, serving 1.2 million people in the communities of Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach and Santa Ana. In 2019, he was appointed Group COO for Tenet Health’s Pacific Coast Region – comprised of four acute care hospitals in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties and affiliated with multiple outpatient imaging and surgery centers, urgent care centers, and a robust physician network.
Clay earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Clay also served in the United States Air Force, as an Acquisitions Officer for the Space and Missile Systems Center in Los Angeles and Electronic Systems Center in Massachusetts.
Clay is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He lives in Costa Mesa with his wife, Amy, and their three children.
