Robotic surgery for a variety of gynecologic disorders
Robotic-assisted surgery is a minimally invasive surgery technique that is used for numerous gynecologic procedures and offers you benefits such as less scarring and a shorter, less painful recovery.
Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center performs robotic surgery with the da Vinci® Si Surgical System. A surgeon uses the computer to remotely control tiny instruments attached to a robot. The system’s robotic hands perform the surgical tasks. Throughout a surgery, your doctor sits comfortably at the da Vinci® console, directing the tiny robotic-like instruments to make small incisions that typically cause less trauma on the body. The system filters and translates the surgeon’s hand movements into micro-movements of the instruments. The doctor is also viewing a 3D image of the surgical site on a high-definition monitor by inserting a miniaturized camera into the patient. Surgeons affiliated with our Robotic Surgery Program can use the robotic surgical system for many different types of surgeries.
Benefits of robotic-assisted surgeries may include:
- A less painful recovery
- Less blood loss
- Less scarring
- Fewer complications
- Shorter hospital stay and recovery
