Treatments & Procedures

Getting you on the road to recovery is our top priority, which is why our team of physicians and support specialists customize treatment plans for each patient. At Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, your treatment plan is yours and yours alone.

We take great pride in making sure our patients receive effective treatments for various digestive disorders. Below are common treatments and procedures for digestive disorders we may see at Fountain Valley.

BARXX is an endoscopic technique used to treat conditions of the esophagus. An ablation catheter is used to treat the affected tissues.

Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)

EMR is a surgical procedure used to resect abnormal or cancerous cells from the lining of the digestive tract. A small tube is passed down the throat and another tube is inserted in the anus to remove any lesions.

EsophyXTM TIF® (Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication)

This procedure is aimed at reducing the symptoms of esophageal reflux. The incisionless procedure is inserted through the patient's mouth and is used to reconstruct the gastroesophageal valve.

InterStim® therapy

This therapy is used in order to treat problems with urinary retention. This surgery is typically used as a last resort when medical treatment has failed patients suffering from urinary leakage and significant urinary urgency.

Laparoscopic surgery

This surgical procedure uses a small, lighted tube through an incision in the belly. Laparoscopy can be used to find cysts, fibroids and infections; tissue can also be biopsied during the procedure.

Robot-assisted surgery

Robotic surgery, or computer-assisted surgery, are procedures that use robotic systems in order to aid surgeons when performing surgery. Robotic surgery often means shorter recovery time and smaller incisions.

Stapled hemorrhoidopexy

In this surgical treatment, large hemorrhoids are removed and the remaining tissue is repositioned to its normal anatomical position.

Stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR)

STARR is a surgical procedure that is performed through the anus, with no external incisions or visible scars. This procedure is used to remove excess tissue from the rectum.
