Adjustable Gastric Band

A minimally invasive option to help you lose weight

Gastric banding is when a surgeon places a small adjustable ring around the top part of the stomach, making the size of the stomach opening smaller. Often known as a lap band (short for laparoscopic adjustable gastric band), it slows how fast you can eat, which reduces the amount of food consumed. Your doctor can adjust the size of the band by filling it with more saline solution injected into a port. This procedure has a quick recovery time than other weight loss procedure. The weight loss experience may start slower than other procedures, but you can still lose 40 percent to 50 percent of excess weight.

Is the gastric band right for me?
